The Bookworm Corner...Stray

Stray by Elissa Sussman

The first book of the Four Sisters Trilogy captivates audiences from near and far. Princess Aislynn, destined to be a Queen, must first be Claimed, a process during which an adviser, a person who makes choices for her, chooses suitors that are best for her. After that, she will have her happily ever after, or at least that’s what everyone not involved in the process thinks.

However, being the princess and the center of attention can always somehow make one “stray from the path,” a phase where her future becomes unclear and where she has taken her future into her own hands, without the approval from her adviser, parents, or even headmistress. Princess Aislynn also faces another dilemma: she has magic flowing right inside her, that goes wild at every selfish thought or act. She needs to control her internal magic or else consequences will be taken against her.

A world which many revere as perfect, through her consequences, Aislynn realizes otherwise – that her world is far from it. In fact, it’s closer to destruction than a utopia. In this first novel, the young princess must go through many obstacles to maintain her appearance as an ideal princess and find the secrets behind the world she’s known in.

The Princess Pledge (equivalent to the Star Spangled Banner in comparison)

I am grateful for my father, who keeps me good and sweet. I am grateful for my mother, who keeps her own heart guarded and safe. I am grateful for my adviser, who keeps me protected. I am grateful for the Path, which keeps me pure. Ever after.
