Tech Time- Don’t Get A Virus

Tech+Time-+Don%E2%80%99t+Get+A+Virus

pg 4, pic 3 (800x476)A lot of people had strong opinions about my previous article on why you shouldn’t be afraid of hackers. Let me clarify, you shouldn’t be afraid of hackers if you have decent virus protection software. We’re going to be securing your computer, so viruses such as Trojans and Worms cannot enter your computer to possibly destroy your information. First, we’ll figure out what we’re dealing with. A Trojan is a type of virus that, at first, appears like a useful program. So, an unsuspecting user could download a Trojan and wouldn’t realize it. A worm, on the other hand, is a program that copies itself to multiple locations. These are the main types of computer viruses. Now we know what viruses are, how do we protect ourselves?

Assuming you’ve got some money to spend, you can buy one of the best antivirus software, BitDefender for at least $30 for 1 year and 1 user. Their “total security” includes their antivirus and internet security. It sells for $80. They promise you security without sacrificing speed, and they deliver on that promise. The antivirus optimizes itself to the user’s computer and would adjust itself at a slower speed to not burden your computer’s performance. You can just put it on autopilot, and you won’t even know that it is there. It protects your privacy on Facebook, Twitter, and online shopping. It blocks any malware. Suppose you’d rather not pay anything and receive a free antivirus. I have good news for you- the top two free antivirus programs are AVAST! and AVG. They both work great.  You wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. They provide less features and less protection, but they get the basics done. Whatever, choice you go with, you will sleep better knowing your computer and privacy are safe. Remember, my friends, stay classy.
