IMG_4207 (800x533)Emmanuel Matos is a senior and Varsity Basketball player at FDR High School.  He is the team’s captain and starting power forward. This was Emmanuel’s second year on varsity, and he made a major impact on the team. I asked E-Man who does he compare his game to, and he said, “Kevin Garnett, because I can work my way in the paint and also knock down mid-range and three-point shots.” Emmanuel’s favorite subject in school is English, because it gives him the opportunity to share his ideas on the topics being taught. His favorite basketball team is The Knicks, and of course, his favorite player is Carmelo Anthony. Off the court E-Man is a talented rapper.

Emmanuel was proud to have the opportunity to be the Captain of the Boys Basketball team. As the Captain of the basketball team, he wanted the make an impact on and off the court. He put all his effort into practices, huddles, team meetings, and games. He would like to thank Coach Yellen for showing him how to be a better player and individual off the court. He also wants to thank his teammates for supporting him no matter the outcome of the game.

The Cougars finished the season 4-10, and Emmanuel averaged an impressive 12.00 points, 4.00 rebounds and 3.00 assist per game. He also shooting 52% from the free throw line. According to E-man,” I do not consider myself the best player on the team, I just wanted to give my team the best shot at winning,” Emmanuel was truly a team player.

After high school, E-Man wants attend either Brooklyn College or St. Francis, where he can major in Music and play basketball.  Good luck at the next level Emmanuel!
