Don’t worry if you missed out on tickets to your favorite artists this summer! There is a FREE summer-long outdoor concert and performance festival that is organized by BRIC and celebrated in Lena Horne Bandshell Prospect Park. This experience allows you to come back again and again with friends and family to appreciate and discover local and global artists of different genres. The festival has seen global music icons, iconic jazz artists, chart-topping indie bands, unique dances, film projects, and even a virtual reality performance. Now in its 45th run since its inaugural summer 1979 event, the festival is quickly becoming one of the city’s foremost cultural attractions and a beloved summer tradition that attracts upwards of 250,000 visitors across New York City each summer.
There will be free movie evenings, family days, concert days, and much more starting on June 8. As of the posting of this article the shows have been announced up til August 17th and more artists will continue to be announced until August 26th. To check them out visit BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn and find the 2024 lineup.
While enjoying the free performances you will still be required to respect the rules of the Department of Parks & Recreation and BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn. They ask you to not bring cans, bottles, coolers, tents, alcoholic beverages, pets, video cameras, audio recording devices, or professional cameras to the festival sites. Simply show up with your friends and/or family and bring food, non-glass water bottles, picnic blankets, and lawn chairs.
