A very special congratulations to Tyjai Small, of the Varsity Football team, for being named the Comeback Player of 2017!  Tyjai led the Cougars to the playoffs this season after missing most of the 2016 season due to injury. This season Tyjai (#4) dominated the competition when he returned to the field, with 573 rushing yards and 6 TDs.  On defense, he had 53 tackles and 2 sacks! According to Coach Cinamon, “Tyjai is not only a great player, he is a tenacious worker, quiet leader, and outstanding person. Tyjai led the team by example. He was the perfect senior.”

Tyjai enjoys attending FDR. He really likes all the different personalities you come across everyday at such a diverse school. He loves playing for the Cougar Football team. Tyjai wishes he had more speed as an RB, but he believes his greatest strengths are his power and consistency. Those two qualities made him such a great player this year. Tyjai’s advice to younger players is to be as great in the classroom, as you are playing the sport you love. That is outstanding advice from FDR’s top senior football player!
