Embracing College Decisions

Embracing+College+Decisions

First, let’s give ourselves a pat on the back for the amazing work we all accomplished.

It’s time. After 3 and a half years of strenuous effort, the day has come. College decisions are rolling out one after the other. Whether it’s an acceptance (congrats!), finding yourself on the waitlist, or the disappointment of rejection, it is important to realize that they are not what determines your future. Yes, going to a prestigious college could guide you to better jobs, but it is not guaranteed. A CUNY or SUNY has the same opportunities if not better (and it’s cheaper).

There are many ways to be successful in life and college is one of them. It’s not about what college you go to but rather, finding opportunities, enhancing everyday related skills, and doing what you enjoy. Keep your eyes peeled for internships, scholarships, and job opportunities that align with your interests. These are just as important.

Now this isn’t the time to be moping around if you’ve been rejected from let’s say your dream school. Most of you have probably seen or heard on TikTok that:

 “Rejection means redirection.”

This is an amazing way to go about the situation. A rejection does not define who you are as a person or what you are capable of. In retrospect, a college is a college, nothing more and nothing less. It depends on what you want to do/ make out of it. Plus, there is always a chance to transfer so don’t lose all hope!

For a final say,

Congrats on being accepted!

I hope you get off the waitlist!

And make the best out of your rejection…..or redirection….
