Senior Lock-In 2024!

Senior+Lock-In+2024%21

On March 8, 2024, FDR held its first Senior Lock-in for the graduating class of 2024! The purpose of the pajama party themed lock-in was to accommodate students who were unable to partake in senior activities, through creating a night of fun with everlasting memories at an affordable price. The Senior Lock-in was held from 6 pm to 11 pm and offered a variety of activities for students. Each portion of the first floor was sectioned off for designated activities.

Prior to the event, student government members and volunteers showcased their artistic abilities through painting the windows located near the student entrance. Located across from their creative paintings was a photo-booth which was the highlight for many. Students left with several photos highlighting the memories they made with their friends and staff members who they hold dear.

After taking multiple photo-booth pictures, students typically went to room 160 to create their very own photo frames. At the arts and crafts station, students used a variety of art mediums to leave their marks on the unforgettable memories they made. This was possible because of Student Government’s collaboration with Ms. Roccanova and Art Club president, Leslie Morales.

In room 159, the Black Box Theatre, there were bright lights, a variety of video games, and virtual reality headsets due to Student Government’s collaboration with Mr. Catalano, and manager Si Yang Zou, on behalf of our E-Sports team. Students, and staff, greatly enjoyed competing in Mario Kart, Just Dance, Spider-Man 2, Sonic, NFL, and NHL.

During the Senior Lock-in, a movie marathon was held inside of the auditorium with snacks and refreshments served. The movies were chosen by students who ultimately curated a range of movies from popular to nostalgic. The movies that were shown included, The Devil Wears Prada, Barbie, and Mulan. Students enjoyed the cozy atmosphere of the auditorium decorated with fairy lights while wearing their most comfortable pajamas!

Inside the cafeteria was a catered dinner and live entertainment through FDR’s collaboration with the NYPD. This contributed to a lively and vibrant atmosphere as students enjoyed singing and dancing all night with their friends while also getting to learn about the other things the NYPD does aside from their day to day job. For students looking to listen to more music, they went over to the silent headphone party where they also enjoyed listening to a synced variety music with their friends

To end the night off, students received escorts to the train station for a guaranteed safe trip home. Our special thanks go to Mrs. Katz, Ms. Hurd, Ms. Repole, Mr. Zhou, Mr. Catalano, Ms. Roccanova, Ms. Wallace, Ms. Washington, Mr. Kovler, Mr. Lei, Ms. Keselman, and Ms. Brewka for making this event possible!
