The breeze starts to come in, and the thought that we are actually seniors finally settles. From starting school in Pre-K and questioning what school is, to becoming seniors and getting used to our routine. This is really our last year, Class of 2026! We’ve made it this far, yet our lives are only just starting. Our adult lives might be beginning, but our childhood chapter is wrapping up—and fast.
Our last first day, last prom, last spirit week, our last year. Senior year is more than just the countdown to graduation. It’s the year of “lasts,” and the memories we make now will stick with us long after the caps are tossed. So let’s show up. Let’s celebrate. Let’s make this year one to remember.
**Here’s what’s coming up for the Class of 2026…**
First up, we have Senior Sunrise. The first and last time you’ll be with your class—all of us, gathered in the same place at the same time—watching the sunrise, eating breakfast, half awake but so alive. This is the final moment before the college crunch hits and time starts slipping away, with deadlines chasing us. A time where we can all talk about our futures and, hopefully, make them real.
Spirit Week. It’s crazy how we’re in our fourth year of high school, and you probably haven’t even actively participated in spirit week. We can’t let it pass this year. You’re in luck—I have all the themes so you can plan ahead for November 3rd to the 7th! Nobody knows about this, so you’ve got a head start:
Monday will be Marvel vs. DC. Rep your favorite superhero or villain.
Tuesday will be Disney Day! Wear or bring anything that represents your childhood favorites.
Wednesday will be Jersey Day. Come in with your favorite team on your back.
Thursday will be Twin Day. When else will you match outfits with your best friend once college starts and everyone’s busy with their own lives?
Friday will be Pajama Day—our favorite.
Wait, the week’s not over yet. We’ve got Homecoming on the Saturday of spirit week, November 8th! This is the first dance of the year and your last homecoming at FDR High School. The theme will be Met Gala/Red Carpet, so dress to impress. There’ll be lots of dancing, food, and fun. Tickets are $15 and will be sold in Room 119 in October. Don’t miss out on this one—trust me.
We all leave school as early as possible every day. But have you ever wondered what school would be like at night? Not actual school—but actual fun. This year we’ll be hosting a Senior Lock-In! There’ll be multiple activities in the middle of the night, just like a slumber party with your classmates.
This year we’re introducing a Senior Murder Mystery. It’s similar to Mafia—everyone will be assigned a role and character, and the seniors will have to work together to find out who the imposter among them is. Everyone can come dressed as their character!
Let’s end with prom—an unskippable event. The last dance you’ll ever attend with your class. The best night of the year. Everyone looking stunning and enjoying themselves all night, just letting the music take over. The night we all spend months wondering what we’ll wear, who we’re going with—and then boom, it’s here. It’s real.
Of course, these aren’t all the events happening this year. We’ve got a lot in store, and some things are still a secret. Keep your eye out for any announcements, flyers, and posts so you can be the first to know and plan ahead.
This will be an amazing year for all of us, so let’s make the most of it. Go to the dances. Go to the games. Show up to the events. Let’s make senior year unforgettable.
