Poem “The Fallen”

Poem The Fallen

Thomas Mackey, Poet

I watched the fall of so many,
The fall of activist civilizations,
The fall of Rome,
Of Greece,
The watchful eye,
I had the power to change it all,
The power to be the true God,
Yet all I did was watch.

To let you discover your own fate,
To let you make your own mistake,
You’ve become Helen
You deserted me
To find your own path,
Yet when it was time to serve justice
All I did was watch.

And let you fall
As I did with so many before you
And while you were basking in misery,
I was there watching.
