Our 1st semester is off to an amazing start thanks to Mr. Naim Faruqui and our YABC family! This year we have really seen an effort to create a greater sense of community. Every night Mr. Naim is super busy, so we are very lucky to get some details from him about our semester and the changes he has made.
What changes have been made to create more student involvement this year?
At FDR YABC, we value student voice. So, anything we can do to listen to our young adults, we would implement. We do this by surveys, groups, and activities. Our groups have been a great opportunity for our students to voice what they want to see in our program. This allows us to have more involvement for our event during the semester.
How important are the post-secondary events for YABC students? How successful was this semester’s event?
Post-Secondary is the lifeline of YABC. We make it a priority to ensure we are having conversations with our young adults about their future. If they don’t have one, it’s a great opportunity to have those discussions to create a blueprint for the rest of their lives. This most recent event was a success because our young adults are getting answers from well informed experts in their respective field. We look forward to inviting more guest for future events.

Our Town Hall event was a lot of fun. Why the change to games over a meeting in the auditorium?
Games bring people together. At FDR YABC we want to build a safe community where you can make friends, be yourself, and have fun. The switch to do games was a no brainer, and it brought a lot out of our young adults. We look forward to doing more events with games just like our recent town hall.

Why is our Holiday Event on November 19th important for our school community?
We are building a community here and our Thanksgiving event is one area where we can begin to do that. When we can invite family, friends, and loved ones to these events, we are building a community that our young adults can rely on.

Are there any special events or programs coming next semester?
We are holding our annual Holiday Dinner on December 17th, a possible Alumni Event, a Game Night in January, as well as our Winter Break trips. Of course there are also our Fall and Spring Graduation Ceremonies.
A special thanks to Naim, and the entire YABC family, for all they do to make this program so rewarding for all our students.
