Summer Fashion

“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.” ― F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby.

Summer must-haves in women’s fashion this summer include pieces that are fun, retro, minimalistic, with vibrant color accents, and lets not forget, chic.  Summer is a time during which your style evolves; I think of it as a buffer zone from one school year’s fashion sense to the next. With this being said, always try new styles and keep an open mind to new styles and new clothes. I’m a tomboy at heart, but I wear skirts and pink…Weird. That brings me to the first must have for this summer: holographic clutch. Weird? Tell that to the creative designer of Lanvin and 3.1 Philip Lim, because that is exactly what kind of styles they are realizing. Those brands are expensive, but with Asos.com, you can pick up a holographic clutch and a slushie to cool you down. (What, slushies are good.) Slushies may be high in sugar and you’re using this summer to lose some weight you’ve gained this year. Understandable. So, you’ll be in and out of the gym. You’re going for an athletic aesthetic. Be enthused that designers like Alexander Wang and Victoria Beckham went for the same look for their runways. Knowing that looking sporty is fashionable is puzzling, but yes, this is the case! Pick up a baseball cap from J Crew or jogging shorts from Choies. Mesh – a blast from the past. Mesh is here to stay this summer with almost all renown designers using it. Acne, Alexander Wang, and Marc Jacobs using it in their designs kind of makes you wish you had a summer job, but don’t you worry child, Topshop.com has skirts and tops mirroring this trendy netted fabric. Birkenstocks and slip-on sneakers seem to be hitting street wear with a bang, so get a pedi for some Birkenstocks, and when your toes chip, wear some slip-ons. Fashionistas like Mary Kate Olsen have been spotted wearing Birkenstocks with maxi dresses, and obnoxiously huge sunglasses. Her pedicure chipped, Mary Kate Olsen was spotted wearing slip-on sneakers. The slip-on sneaker trend was actually exercised by a great deal of designers, such as Prada, Celine, and Rag & Bone. Retail prices of about 80 to 100 dollars are a bit much for a pair of Birkenstock, so pick the sandals up from Zara, oh and the slip-on’s, just treat Mary Kate to a pedi and she’ll let you burrow them. Okay, that was mean. Pick them up from Vans to pull off the same look and save cash. Have a great summer guys!  Try these new styles!
