Pop Music In The 1990’s

It’s the 90s! Welcome to the decade that most of you reading this know about! The 1990’s was filled with new pop groups forming and the pop culture rising. It’s the decade where music videos became a must for a song. So now let’s all step in to the 90’s!

  • Backstreet Boys– What 90’s music article would be complete without the Backstreet Boys? The Backstreet Boys are the most memorable boy band from the 1990s. Some of their hits include Everybody, As Long As You Love Me, Larger Than Life, Incomplete, I Want It That Way, and many more hits. What’s great about them is that they are still performing on cruise ships and in Las Vegas!
  • Céline Dion– Céline Dion’s voice is the kind of voice you listen to and think of how unique and amazing it is. Some know her for her famous song in Titanic, My Heart Will Go On. Asides from this song, she has released many other great songs such as It’s All Coming Back To Me Now, The Power of Love, All By Myself and many more. In the year of 1988, she represented Switzerland in the Eurovision, with a French song (Céline Dion is of Canadian origin).
  • Aerosmith– Aerosmith is an American rock band with the lead singer Steven Tyler. They formed back in the 70’s, but they had a lot of their success in the 90’s. They won four Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group, all with songs from their 90’s albums as well as other respected awards for their category. Some of their songs include Crazy, I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing, and Dream On.
  • Britney Spears– Britney Spears was just 17 when she released her first single …Baby One More Time. Her album was such a success that within her first year she received four awards. In fact, 6 out of the 7 albums she has, reached number 1 on the Billboard 200. Some of her hits include Oops!…I Did It Again, Womanizer, Toxic, Crazy and many more.
  • NSYNC- NSYNC is another boy band that was formed in the 90’s. One of the more memorable singers to come out of the band, after their breakup in 2002, is Justin Timberlake. NSYNC had a successful career with their songs; Bye Bye Bye, Tearin’ Up My Heart, It’s Gonna Be Me and more.
  • Dido– Dido is a singer and a songwriter from the UK. Her breakout came out with her album No Angel. Her voice is soft and unique. Some of her songs include Thank You, White Flag, Here With Me and many more. She won 3 Brit awards, one MTV award, and others in the 2000’s.
  • Spice Girls– The Spice Girls are a British originated pop group. The Spice Girls is a group almost everyone knew. The girls won a great number of awards, like the Brit Award for Lifetime Achievement. In 2000, they broke up and went on to solo careers. Some of their songs include Wannabe, Say You’ll Be There, 2 become 1 and more.
