As the end of our senior year gets closer and closer, let’s talk about graduation. Ella Washington’s graduation that is. At 89 years old Ella Washington managed to complete her associate’s degree in interdisciplinary studies and is now working on obtaining her bachelors degree. Washington didn’t graduate high school, like we will soon, but she did decide to get her GED at 61. If that doesn’t serve as inspiration and an example of dedication, I don’t know what does!
On Tuesday May 29th Starbucks closed almost 8,000 of their stores to dedicate the entire day, to educating their workers and have them complete an anti-racial bias training session. Previously, a staff member at one of their locations called the police on two African American males for “not ordering anything,” when they were simply waiting on another person to meet them. It was announced that Starbucks reached out to Common, a rapper/actor, to help them with this training.
Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend !
