Nadir Hassan- Male Athlete of the Year

Nadir+Hassan-+Male+Athlete+of+the+Year

Nadir Hassan is the Male Athlete of the Year.  FDR’s senior captain of the Football and Track teams is moving on to play college ball this fall. However, he has made his mark on FDR Athletics!

Not only is Nadir arguably, FDR’s all time top football player, he played in back to back Championship games (winning it all in his junior year).  This fall Nadir was honored at the PSAL City Championship game for throwing the most TD passes in New York City.  Nadir believes his greatest strength, as an athlete, is his determination to win.  No matter what the score, he never gives up.  The biggest challenge for him is playing though injuries.  He can’t remember when he was ever 100% healthy once the season started.

Nadir believes he was named Male Athlete of the Year because, “I’ve successfully balanced my academics and sports. My four years at FDR have been four successful football seasons, with two trips to the City Championship game, winning one.  I am also the Big 44 Offensive Player of the Year for New York City in my division.  As a captain, I try my best to lead by example in the classroom and on the field.  It is an honor to win this award and to have played for FDR.”

Nadir will surely be missed.  He is a great example for younger players, proving hard work does pay off! Congratulations Nadir!
