Student Council

Student+Council

This year the FDR’s Student Council has much planned for the upcoming semester. With events throughout October, the goal is to boost school spirit and provide students ample opportunities to enjoy themselves. This year’s events kicked off on October 2nd with the highly anticipated Hispanic Food Festival. The festival was in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, and it was a new addition to the events that are being hosted by the school. Another new event, that was unfortunately cancelled due to bad weather, was the “Super Hero/Super Villain Walk, Jog, Run,” on October 3rd.  It was created to raise funds for St. Jude’s Hospital, in order to help fight childhood cancer.  While the run did not take place, we raised $500 for the hospital!

If you missed these first two, don’t fret.  The schools events continue throughout the month with a fantastic Fall Carnival planned to take place on October 9th , after school, on the school’s football field.  It is expected to be a fun  afternoon delight. Nine days later the Breast Cancer walk takes place, and it is expected to be a great event- boosting the spirits of both students and teachers, as they join together to fight a disease that affects millions. Then comes Senior Spirit Week, October 19th-24th , which should boost the school spirit of this year’s seniors with loads of cool event for the upperclassmen of FDR. But that isn’t all, at the end of the week comes the Pep Rally on October 23rd , and finally, Homecoming on October 24th.  Come show your school spirit and participate in any, or even all, the upcoming events at FDR. To inquire about any of these events, or find out how to help, please see Ms. Perez in Room 119.

This year, just like every other year, participation is key in raising money and holding more events throughout the school year. It is important to try and make memories and enjoy your time at FDR High School. The events done by the Student Council are not just for the enjoyment of students, but the proceeds are then used to fund the clubs that students participate in. It is important as members of clubs, and other student organizations, to help by participating. The funds that we spend at these events will help finance all the clubs and other events throughout the year. It is especially important that seniors participate in order to have pictures and enjoyable memories of their final year at FDR.
