FDR Presents Romeo and Juliet

FDR Presents Romeo and Juliet

Romeo and Juliet is a classic. It’s a story of two star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, who fall deeply in love, despite what fate has in store for them. Even though their love is young, it’s true love that allowed them to find each other. They marry in secret, but the story ends in tragedy when Romeo and Juliet both die. If this isn’t true love, then what is?

The FDR Theatre Company will be preforming Romeo and Juliet on December 12th, 13th, and 14th. This FDR rendition is more modern and original than the classic play. It shows how despite what century it is, Shakespeare’s poems and plays endure the test of time. Ms. Porter, the director of the play, says that Shakespeare’s plays impact today’s society, and we can learn a lot from reading his stories. Romeo and Juliet, is one of his best, because it explains how the tiniest of changes can alter the plot of the whole story. The play also illustrates that adults play a big role in the development of a child’s behavior. Instead of supporting their children, the parents punish and force their children to do something that they do not want to do.  The power of love overwhelms Romeo and Juliet, forcing them towards a tragic end.

The FDR Theatre Company has put a lot of time and effort into this show. The students who are part of this play, juggled sports teams, clubs, and the show. They all practiced every day and stayed after school until 5 or 6pm. The FDR Theatre Company welcomes you to join them for this classic play. Come out and support you Cougar Family, December 12th, 13th, or 14th!
