Welcome+to+FDR+Mrs.+Urrico%21

FDR has two new Assistant Principals of Instructional Support Services, Lauren Urrico and Adam Goldner, they are both welcome members to the Cougar Community. THE NEW DEALER is grateful to have spoken with Mrs. Lauren Urrico, about her transition to FDR.

Q: What position did you hold in the DOE before you came to FDR?

A:  Before, I was the Testing Coordinator for ten years, in Special Education for Math, at a similar-sized school, just like FDR. I really enjoy large schools.

Q: Why did you decide to come to work at FDR?

A:  I believe FDR has a lot to offer, and I always thought people needed to see that. I also want to increase activities for disabled students, help them transition to post-secondary education, and expand career training for them.

Q: What are some challenges you are facing at FDR?

A:  Getting to know names is very hard for me, as I’m new.  I know the face, I just don’t know all the names.

Q: What are some goals for the ISS Department?

A:  I want to increase the graduation rate for the school. I also want others to have civic readiness and a plan for success, because I want students to have a goal after high school, whether it’s small or big. Creating vocational programs is another goal I am working on at FDR.

Q: What has impressed you about the students at FDR?

A:  Honestly, students here are VERY respectful, and they have the quality to be responsible. I was very happy about that.

Q:  What are some things you like to do in your free time?

A: I’m a mother, so I am mostly with my children. We are a very active family, so we go to soccer practice, lacrosse practice, dance, and I am also a coach for my daughter’s swimming team.

Q:  Lastly,  do you have any message for the COUGAR family?

A: I am very very appreciative, and so happy to be here. I would like to thank everyone for supporting me at FDR, especially all the teachers and co-workers!

We are all fortunate to have you here! We wish you nothing but success from the entire Cougar family!
